Basalte Display Font is a layered display typeface, a revival of the type designed by Ange Degheest.
These letterings are probably simple exercises, difficult to date, which testify to Ange Degheest’s interest for sign painting and the lettering styles specific to this field. There are several examples of this type in her archives, probably based on models from professionals. Following the vocabulary of the sign painter, it is here an Egyptian writing imitating a whistle engraving.
